For landscapes you can’t go wrong with either, but the extra stop of light the 2.8 offers makes it more useful in a wider variety of scenarios. It’s also heavier and more expensive. Both lenses are well-made. If you’ve already owned and sold the f4, I think that’s an indicator not to buy it again.

It seems some people like to bag on the Sony/ZEISS now that the 2.8 is out. Of course it’s a natural comparison, but they’re both great. Maybe the f4 isn’t optically perfect, but I love the way my copy renders images. It’s my favorite zoom for landscapes, and one of my all-time favorite lenses, period.
