I don't have any RF lenses right now, but I can tell you that all my EF lenses nail focus on my R via the adapter, including my EF 85 1.8 and a third party lens (Tamron 45). The misfocusing you're seeing must surely be the result of either a hardware issue or an error in your tests, not an inherent design flaw. People have been using the R/RP with EF lenses for long enough now that if there was an inherent issue, it would be well known.

It's likely you did your tests right but just to check (because everyone can have an off day!):

- Did you focus on the target and not the scale at the side

- Did you use single shot AF with a single point? If not, try it now.

- Was the camera stationary during the test? If not, time for the tripod.

If all of that checks out then as far as I can see you're left with either:

- bad camera-to-lens comms due to dirty contacts or a faulty adapter, OR

- something genuinely wrong with your camera body
