Since it (the synergy) has been fairly widely discussed, but perhaps not adequately supported here by example, I am linking to one example I found, of an Olympus microscope imaging product in their Life Sciences div., which has been likely enhanced by technologies I believe Olympus first undertook and developed within their consumer camera division.
