M6 ii + Tamron 70-200mm G2 adapted in Burst Mode
11

Burst mode was one of the feature of the M6 Mark II which could either be very gimmicky or quite useful so I wanted to check it out. I bought the Tamron 70-200 for use with my 5D III. Its a budget alternative to the Canon L f/2.8 and has a short focusing distance so you can shot close to the subject. It works well adapted on the M6 II.

Burst mode has some confusing things to overcome:

- The max shutter speed seems to be the Mechanical Shutter limit of 1/4000 despite it using the Electronic shutter. This can be a problem for freezing very fast moving subjects like the bees I was shooting

- In manual focus mode focus peaking works but I couldn't get the magnification to work, which made it difficult to get exact focus

- I also could not magnify the review burst images without first extracting the image to a raw or jpg file. That extraction process is a little tedious in camera, requiring 4 steps for every picture including one redundant step that just asked to confirm that it was going to create a new file. The alternative to reviewing in camera is to download and review in DPP4 which also works, but I didn't really ever do that because the files are huge

That said it works well. I really didn't notice the crop and many of the photos I saved were from the prebuffer.

Below are some of the photos, processed in Lightroom from the RAW files. Generally I was quite happy with the results and would probably use Burst mode more often going forward
