viewfinder electronic level 80D too dark

I noticed that the little level in the viewfinder can be helpful for me. In low light situations it is impossible to see unless the camera can't get focus and points are flashing red.

Is there a way to turn it red, or otherwise light up the viewfinder, on purpose without going out of focus so that I could see it?

When I am not using flash I use a large eye cup and that might help during flash. But I don't like the eye cup during flash since I find I look at the back display screen a lot more frequently and it gets in the way. and I don't want to go into live view and use that level.

Just thought of something I'll try when I get home. Maybe lighting up the display points like I was going to change them would show it up a bit, if it is available when I do that.
