Auto ISO issue when using TTL Flash

Auto ISO issue when using TTL Flash

The camera is trying to be smart, and is exposing for the ambient light of the scene. It assumes you want to use the flash as fill to the correctly exposed ambient.

So if the scene is dark, like indoors, your camera on Auto ISO will pick a high ISO to expose for ambient, then your flash will fill that.

To avoid this, set the ISO manually yourself at a value you're comfortable with. Your camera will use TTL flash to correctly expose your subject.

If you'd like a little more background exposure, say shooting a person in front of a nighttime cityscape, set TTL to  SLOW SYNC is the Flash Setup Menu

This combines the flash with slow shutter speeds .

Your time is limited, so don't waste it arguing about camera features - go out and capture memories - Oh, and size does matter - shoot MF
