Z 50 - An Unexpected benefit
19

Today, for the first time, I paired my Z 50 with the FTZ, a Kenko N-AF 1.4X Teleconverter, and the Nikon 70-300 mm AFP VR DX lens. It may look a bit klunky, but it proved to be surprisingly light and well balanced.

I walked along the Pismo Beach boardwalk to the Pismo Butterfly Grove. As I shot, I realized a totally unexpected benefit of this setup. The AF was quick and flawless, despite the fact that I never got close to f4.0 (the theoretical functional limit for AF with the TC). This was the case regardless of the focus mode that I used. The two samples below are SOOC jpegs with no PP.

Can anyone suggest a reason for this?
