Musing about alternatives

We were at a restaurant yesterday and there was a man and his family at another next table, and he was taking pictures with a Fujifilm (don't know which model).

So just out of idle curiosity I sat down and tried to figure out what it would cost me to replace all of my gear with a new body and equivalent focal length lenses, which I plan to do in a couple of years time.

Current system: E5; 14-28 f/4; 28-70 f/2; 100-400 f/2.8-3.5; 100 macro. The lenses are stated at 35mm equivalent focal lengths.

OMD EM1 mkii; 14-28; 24-80; 80-300; 120 macro $3,976 (B&H)

Sony A7iii; 12-24; 24-105; 100-400; 90 macro $6,367 (B&H)

Fujifilm XT3; 15-36; 24-84; 84-305; 91 macro $3,246 (B&H)

This puts the Sony completely out of my league cost wise, and it would be too bulky.

Nikon and Canon don't have the lens line-up to make a comparison possible, but they look to be heading to the Sony level of cost and heft.

I didn't include Panasonic as I figure it would be on a par with Olympus.

So that left the Fuji which looks to be an interesting system, but lacks IBIS which could be a problem.
