Hello,
I have a m50 that I use mainly for portraiture with eye AF. The auto-focus is ok but no where near the eos R with latest firmware.
I would like to upgrade to a m6ii but I wondering if I will get the same auto-focus as m50 or something closer to the eos r?
Thank you

I can't answer your question but i just wanted to check, did you know you can also use eye AF, contrary to what i have read, while still using CAF (servo) ?

This was an update that came later in the EOS R, it didn’t originally ship that way. Which is why some reviews will say so. The M6 II ships with the later version of the AF system.

I meant the M50. It has a workaround for eye AF with servo. You have to turn on the constant AF setting for LV, so when taking stills it works just like the SERVO setting for video mode, it's always focusing without the shutter press.

With it set to on, you set the AF mode to single (not servo) which opens up the eye AF setting to turn on. It takes away your ability to start/stop the AF at will but at least it allows servo with eyes. I was happy to see the M50 having this after i heard it was only available with SAF.

great workaround...thanks a lot.....:)

Just remember that on this setting, a shutter half press and hold causes a SAF lock and hold, it's your way to interrupt the nonstop AF setting. So when you are ready to take a shot, just fully press the shutter all the way down in one motion.

This is how i do it if im using continuous focusing. It's not exactly the same as real servo with eye AF but it's the better than nothing and seems to work very well for what it is.

ok...yes...sure...:)
