I take the opposite approach to yours with my X-T3.  I turned off sleep, leave the LCD live and have boost on.  With the battery grip I get at least 3 hours this way and I simply carry spare batteries in my pocket.  I simply carry enough batteries to make it through a shoot at a consumption rate of 1 battery per hour which is my winter consumption rate.  Third party batteries are cheap and I can quickly change the batteries in my grip during down time.
