SD15 Full Spectrum + Visible Light Filter

With the dust-cover removed for IR work, it's inconvenient to put it back for normal shooting then have to take it out again for IR work.

So some folks leave the cover out and put a visible-light filter on the lens for normal work. Trouble is that such lenses tend to have a blue cast when used thus. I was messing around in SPP to correct the cast but it was fiddly and irritating.

Here's how it looks before in SPP:

At least the foliage is green, not brown like without the filter on the lens.

Suddenly (duh) I remembered the good old in-camera Custom WB.

So, on with a Schott BG40 and in with a Custom WB off my Kodak R27 white card:

Hmmm .....

My greenery isn't that color.

Oops, the white card was shaded when I did the Custom WB. Since 'Shade' is up around 7000-9000K, the Custom matrix boosted the red some. So I redid the Custom WB shot in sunlight - and lo:

Greenery is about right (I use Standard Color Mode) and sky greatly improved.
