Re: Not sure if this helps

I have set:

1) shutter press: Zone AF-C with tracking for BIF (auto ISO, Evaluative metering)

2) AEL: Recall Custom hold for Static birds (1/500, Auto ISO, AFC, Tracking AF-ON, spot metering)

When the bird is in flight, I press the shutter to track it, when it lands or perches, I press the AEL button

I just use 2 buttons for all situations

AFC and Shutter priority + Auto ISO always on

Thanks dv312,

For some reason zone never worked for me. I use the tracking-on all the time. Even when I'm hunckered down on a bird that decided to just do nothing, wtrying to wait it out (after lots of training in patience, it's still a toss-up who wins, but I've evened the odds). Longest so far was about half an hour, trying to be ready for when it does soemthing.

AFC is a given, lock-on also, for me Aperture priority works better, bracketed auto ISO, and the "sfot rule" setting of minimal shutter speed.
