D810 "noise"

When I increase the ISO of my D810 I start to notice "noise" (for lack of a better term) in the form squiggles.  As I process the image (Lightroom) these squiggles can become very prominent. This is particularly true with the Clarity slider in particular.  The only solution that I have found is to increase the luminance slider.

The attached photo is a section from a RAW image of a blank sky at ISO 1000. I start to notice the squiggles by ISO 200 and anything over about ISO 400 is pretty much unusable.  This is very unlike my D3s which I used at ISO3200 and higher without issue.

High ISO noise reduction has no effect. Consequently I try to limit my ISO to125 or less.

Has anyone else noticed this same issue?  Is there something I can do in camera to alleviate this issue? Anything I can do in post processing?
