No. He has a legitimate fear. You need to scrub a cellphone thoroughly before doing anything with it

I wouldn't be all OCD about it as most will either be used by other people or recycled. As long as you do the bare minimum the chances of losing your stuff this way are slim.

I wasn't intending to be rude. I imagined it was a brain fart, typo, or maybe you honestly just didn't know BUT this is the internet. I was worried someone would read that and think all their info goes away when they pull a SIM card. I wouldn't want somebody to make that mistake
