Exposure compensation when using eTTL

Hi,

I have a question about exposure compensation when using eTTL. This is not about Flash exposure compensation (FEC). But regular exposure compensation in 5d4.

When I try to set it to -1 for example, the camera uses a faster shutter time, to make the image a little darker, so it's working normally as intended. But the eTTL system just increases flash power by the same amount, and the end result is basically the same picture as far as exposure.

What's up with that? It's like the exposure compensation system is not talking to the eTTL system at all.
