M50 sensor is not the same as 80D. Dxomark doesn't have test data for M50 yet. Look at another site called "Photons to Photos", that contains M50 sensor data. Dynamic range is not much different, but ISO is much better in the 80D.
M6 ii is much better sensor from the same site.
not only does it run all the time on the M50 (and mirrorless) but it also has to run at least twice as much. one scan for AF another scan for image.
If this were true, then it would apply to their DSLRs when using LV. Have you tried testing this? I did when i owned my 70D, i compared photos taken in LV with dual pixel, to photos taken through the OVF. No difference. I think your theory is false.
The more likely reason is Canon is notorious for limiting the performance of cameras to match their price point. This can include sensor performance, not just AF. It could even include sensor wiring, like whether they use copper wiring or not.
If end result is the matter. In many reviews it is said the image quality of M50 & 80D are same. M50 is praised so much, that i had sold 70D and bought M50.

your initial complaints are basically due to processing. chromatic aberrations are simply handled in-camera settings or handled when you process the RAW files. This has zero to do with the sensor.
the amount of base noise you will see usually depends on your sharpening since by default canon uses a course global sharpening.
at ISO 400 and above, essentially the 70D and M50 are equal, it's only lower than that the the M50 has an advantage.
