The Sony A7 series produces a cropped RAW when shooting in APSC mode.


Several other FF cameras do the same.

But APSC-mode is something entirely different, it keeps the aspect ratio but completely crops in with a factor of 1.5. This is awesome as it saves space when you want to make use of the longer reach with the crop factor.

I’d prefer an uncropped RAW, but it seems that that’s a minority preference.
