Are photographers killing the camera industry?
5

Just watched a new YT video titled "STOP UPGRADING YOUR CAMERAS!" where a guy using a 4 year old camera lays out the reasons way he's not upgrading to the mark iv while he still has the mark ii. I get where he's coming from and I will agree that just because a new model of a camera comes out, it doesn't mean the one you have is no good any longer. However, there is less and less interest in photography these days which means less people buying into a camera system. Then you have many of us photographers holding on to cameras for 4-5 years or longer...and you see why the market is dying a quick death.

So the question is, do we need to do a better job supporting these camera manufacturers by updating our cameras every 2-3 years? Or do we let them die and then what? We all start using smartphones for our photography? If camera companies go away, so do all the parts you need to keep your camera running. No more replacing mirrors or shutters, no more warranties, nothing. Thoughts?
