How to get my Monitor to run at full 1440p resolution

I have a dell ultrasharp u2713hmt 27" monitor with VGA/DISPLAY PORT/HDMI/DVI-D ports.

I have a Nvidia geforce 710 gt 2gb graphics card with VGA/HDMI/DVI-D ports

i first tried a HDMI cable to connect the two but only got 1080p

I then tried a 2.0 HDMI cable but still got 1080p

I then tried a VGA cable and got 2048x1152p

I then tried a DVI-D to DVI-D cable but the screen image was greenish with bad detail

The last thing i tried was a DVI-D, to DISPLAY PORT cable but got no signal.

The monitor has a native 2560 x 1440p resolution and all the drivers are up to date so could anyone tell me which cable i need to connect the graphic card to the monitor to achieve the full 1440p resolution.

Any help would be appreciated

Thank's Mike
