I've just bought this lens after being very happy with the 15-45mm that came with the camera. Today we went out to New Brighton where we have been before when testing new equipment out, and I feel it hasn't performed very well compared to the 14-45mm. It was a very dull day I must admit, but I felt disappointed with what I took. They weren't very sharp even after editing in DPP. I am hoping it is a one off as I wasn't too well in any case. I used the 15.45mm inside in a museum and found it very sharp.

Any help on this would be appreciated; also opinions on the 28mm macro lens which I have had my eye one. After today the temptation to trade it in for the macro is quite big :-O. Hoping it is just me having an off day and not found out yet this lens' strengths and weaknesses.

FWIW, my copy of this lens back focuses in Aperture mode. I have to put it in program mode to get sharp pics.

I'm not sure what you mean, do you mean back button focus? From what I have read and seen in the settings this can't be done; but if I have missed something do let me know, as I use back button focus on my 200D. Additionally; are you saying putting it in program mode gives you the sharpest photos?
