Steve Perry's costing me money - AGAIN - with his review of the brand new Wimberley Monogimbal Head

Steve Perry caused me to spend a lot of money this spring with his great idea for a system of quick release tripod head mounts (more about this below) - but now he's got me curious to see if the brand new Wimberley Monogimbal Head is 'better' than a gimbal head:

I think this monopod head is still so new that it may not be available for a week or more.

Available on the Wimberley website and soon on B&H. Preorder for next week here: and at B&H soon.

And Steve was right in his advice about the slickness of a quick release tripod head lever release system:

But one thing I don't like about his recommendation for this system, is my aversion to buying any (more) stuff from Really Right Stuff (because of the political leanings of the owner of the company, who gave a bunch of money to fight against equal protection under the law for gays in California).

The parts of this system that Steve recommends are:

Really Right Stuff B2-LR-II Lever-Release Clamp (60mm)

Really Right Stuff TH-DVTL-40 Round Dovetail Plate

BUT - not only do I resent HAVING to buy from RRS, their prices peeve me off - so I was super pleased to discover that you can buy the super expensive clamp part of this system for less than one sixth the cost on eBay:

So - you can pay $19 US on eBay or $120 to buy this from RRS - and I bought six of them from b2cgreatmall on eBay - and they are GREAT!  (you may want one for the top of each of your tripods and monopods)
