Canon 90D: why is mirror/shutter release so noisy - normal?

This is probably a silly question. But why is my new Canon 90D so noisy with a clanky double clicking sound when I press the shutter release? It's a noticeable sound that sounds like it's clanking twice.

I want to shoot with live preview LCD mode, is pressing "Start Stop" button to right of viewfinder the correct way of enabling this? I don't care to shoot using the viewfinder.

I'm coming from a Canon M50 mirror-less camera, which I got used to having minimal sound, but the 90D is noticeably different. That's my immediate first question for the 90D that I just picked up today.

Canon EOS M50 (EOS Kiss M)
