Trying to understand Auto Distortion Control - D850

I’m trying to better understand Auto Distortion Control in my D850 in conjunction with Lightroom. I read something in Thom Hogan’s D850 book that Auto Distortion Control works with JPEGs, but only will work with NEF files if using Capture NX-D or View NX-i for post processing.

Is this correct?

If I upload my NEF images to Lightroom, are the auto lens corrections discarded?

Lightroom has Lens Correction algorithms that can be selected in Develop mode. How does this differ from or impact the camera corrections?

All of my main lenses are covered by both the D850 firmware and Lightroom’s latest version (Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.4G, Nikkor AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR, Nikkor AF-S 16-35mm f/4G ED VR, and Nikkor AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED).

Can you help me grasp this better?
