Any tips for getting good shots with a snowy background?

My friend has asked me to take pictures of his family, and they want it to be in front of pine trees after a recent snow. I'm dreading the thought of actually being able to deliver decent pictures under such an environment.

My plan is to use my X-T2 coupled with the 35mm f1.4 lens. I prefer SOOC jpegs, so I'd like to get the exposure, etc. right in the camera without any need for post processing.

I've always struggled with such scenarios (getting the exposure and other settings correct with bright snow). Can you guys give any tips, e.g. what settings I should be adjusting?

Also, it might help if you post pictures of such scenarios, so I can try to mimic your settings.

Thanks in advance.
