Mercury transit at sunset - GM 100-400 mm + 1.4x TC
16

This picture shows the small inner planet Mercury passing in front of the sun at sunset. Despite turbulent air, the small planet was clearly seen in some frames, and totally wiped out in others. The transit takes hours. But for those who want to take a picture of such an astronomical event, you will have to wait 13 years for the next Mercury transit.

Exposure 1/8000 sec at f:11 with a B&W ND1000 neutral grey filter, trough the GM 100-400 mm with 1.4x TC, at 560 mm focal length. A7rIII. This is a heavy crop.

Mercury transit at sunset, november 11, 2019 at about UT 14.30 (short days and long nights here up north during the winter season).
