Life expectancy of modern lenses
3

In the digital world all modern lenses have a lot of microelectronics for interaction with the camera. Chips with firmware I mean. How long do they last? It's a well know fact that these kind of electronics in computers etc. degrades over time and ultimately will fail. Maybe not that fast but after decades. Today we can use vintage lenses of 50 years old on our camera's of today. Do you think a typically Fujinon lens will still function after 20 or 30 years? Can it be repaired by then or used in MF mode only some way when the electronics are dead?
