10-24 workable for North Lights?

Heading to the Canadian Rockies in 2 weeks and a couple nights have a KP forecast of 4-5. I own the 10-24 and will be brining it but contemplating purchasing the venerable Samyang 12mm F2 to bring a long. This will likely be the last time I'll be north enough to see the lights for a few years. Wondering if the lights do show could I "get by" with the 10-24 and cranking the ISO, or is it worth the extra $270 for the Samyang? What would you all do?
