Blame the lens, blame the adapter, blame something ..

This is not going to interest everyone - it might be a rare combination.

A day out shooting with the relatively rare (?) Sigma DC 50-100/1.8 (also huge and expensive) adapted to a G9 by a Viltrox M1 EF-M4/3 produced frustrating difficulties with long AF focus.  Short to medium AF is good, MF for longer distances is good.  Tried the gamut of different focus types.  All I could discern was that that lens preferred to focus on closer object even when using pinpoint focus.  But with no closer objects to focus on it did not want to AF on any distant object at all.

Blame the adapter.

Tried the same thing today but used the Metabones Smart Adapter instead - same thing.

Blame both the adapters or the lens.

In desperation fitted the whole contraption to the tiny (obsolete?) GM5 camera body - perfect AF everywhere (!).  Amazed ....

Blame the G9.

Anyone else having distant AF issues with lenses adapted to the G9?

The GM5 rocks ....
