To me, it looks like noise you might see on a M43 camera at higher ISOs, and I know I would definitely prefer the size, weight, and price of a M43 system than doing heavy cropping with the A7R4.

Who on Earth would buy a full frame camera to crop every photo to M43 format?!?

And where do you find real world high ISO samples that back up your claim?

I mean... a lot of folks with A7R4s are cropping that heavily. Not on every photo, but you see the "reach" argument get bandied around a lot. The real world examples are sample images posted here on DPReview (the official review, the forums) and stuff posted on FredMiranda. Most stuff above ISO 1250 or so starts to look kind of bad, honestly.

I feel like 25 ~ 40 MP or so is the sweet spot for full frame sensors.

So you trust your feelings more than measurements and real world tests?

Also, this is what some say every time pixel number is increased - the new camera is just too much, the sweet spot is a bit lower ...

I used to own an A7R2 and I definitely miss its resolution and dynamic range having moved to the A9 line in 2016.
