Re: GX7 vs GX80

I had a GX-7 and now have a GX-85. I read a few of the replies so some of this may sound repetitive.

GX-7

-Better ergonomics (grip, tilting evf)

GX-85

-Great in camera stabilization made even more powerful if you are using a M4/3 lens that has it also (dual mode). It is very impressive when you can handhold the camera using the 100-300mm lens (see further down).

-pictures are sharper in certain situations since they removed the AA filter in the sensor design

-4K photo modes and Post focus mode.

-With either body, lenses are crucial. I have the 12-35mm f2.8, 35-100mm f2.8 and 100-300mm f4. I rented the 100-400 Panaleica zoom and the focus and zoom rings were stiff as mentioned by others so I passed. The 100-300mm is a good lens for the $$.

-I may get some pushback on this one but it's interesting to try. On the 100-300 I've turned on the digital zoom. The 2x setting gives you some decent results, the 4x goes grainy pretty easily..

-Last but not least, why not consider a GX-9. You get back a lot of the GX-7 ergonomics, the 20mp sensor of the G9 and all of the benefits the GX-85 has over the GX-7? Open the DP review GX-9 review and go to the image quality sections and put the GX-9 against the GX-85. You'll se the difference and sharpness in the resolution.
