The popup flash mechanisms differ a bit, but the review of the GX85 here on DPR does say that it can be directed at the ceiling, so you are apparently correct on that.

The EVF panels may be identical, but several here have written that they find a difference in EVF use between the two cameras,

However as an evf only shooter, a keen Live View shooter looking for the best SOOC ouput ( so the visual guide on evf is very importance to me), have serious Myopia problem and wear progressive focal length spectacles for >10 years, my very poor eye sight etc could make me one of the most sensitive to/demanding on evf quailty. GX7 and GX85 that I shoot side by side over last 2+ years should give me good enough experience on them for the judgment. Until now my experience tells me that the are the same.

I can tell the jump on quality of the evf from G1 to LVF2 on GX1, and the next jump from LVF2 to GX7, It is another level of improvement from GX7/85 to G85.

with the EVF of the GX85 less pleasant to use, perhaps because of poorer optics in front of the EVF panel. I haven't used a GX85 so I can't say, but the comment has been made here by folks who usually seem to be discerning and careful.

Indeed to set the diopter on GX7 is not as convenience as GX85 (uses a slider at the bottom of the evf unit vs the conventional adjuster wheel on a side), but once it was set, the one on GX7 could hardly be changed by accident where as the one on GX85 could be moved easier. Might be a reason for those comment.

Or GX7 had never drawn degree of public attention as much as GX85 because of its Olympus similar class IS, 4K ready towhich Oly shooters were long waited on their lower end models, plus a deep discount when it was still a popular... So a lot of true or false opinion been heard?

Or might be I am very easy going and am a tolerance shooter. 😂
