Best lightweight Portrait Setup (& problem with the 40mm 2.8)
Best lightweight Portrait Setup (& problem with the 40mm 2.8)
Oct 29, 2019
Hi All. I am looking for the best light portrait setup for the Eos-M system other than the 32mm M-lens which I can't justify. Today I tried the 40mm 2.8 and 50mm 1.8 with a viltrox adapter. On my 6D I prefer the 40mm, with more contrast and sharpness. However, for some reason the 40mm was performing terribly today on the M100 (but still ok on the 6D). See the comparison below of a 2:1 zoom in to the centre of the frame. All shot had the same shutter speed and I took a few at different apertures with the 40mm and none were any better. I moved forward/back so all shots had the same composition. Throwing in the 22mm @ f2 for fun
Has anyone else tried the 40mm with adapter on the M100 or another M series camera? I will do another test tomorrow so see if it was just a one-off.

Canon EOS M6 II
Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM
Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 | C
Sigma 30mm F1.4 (E/EF-M mounts)
Canon 70-300 F4-5.6 IS II
