To answer your title: it might be more popular than it was back then but the end would had been the same. Those Japanese companies made sure that this Korean company fails in camera industry. That is probably the reason Sigma and Tamron did not release lenses or flashes for NX system...and it is very difficult to survive without the third-party support. Yes, Fujifilm has done it, but their lens line-up is extensive. Samsung did not focus on lenses and kept releasing new camera models instead.
As for sensors, except NX1/NX500, their sensors were not better than Sony sensors in low-light performance. Was that the main reason for their demise? Nops. Canon survived with their ancient sensor technology. Anyhow, Samsung is such a huge industry giant that it can re-enter the market whenever they want. BUT with the decrease in camera sales, this looks unlikely.
Brands such as Canon is giving dedicated cameras a bad name...
Indeed!
Can anyone explain me that?!??!?!
They benefitted primarily from one thing: a larger user-base when they entered the digital world, which in turn was a result of their move towards non-screw-driven AF with EF mount in 1987.
But I still don't undertsand why people keep on choosing Canon. I mean, everytime I watch a video on youtube, with any canon camera, I find the footage soft, blurry, it seems like it is upscaled... So in the end, why do people prefer to have worst quality, at least in video....
I concur. I don't get it either
