Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 - grain in natural backgrounds?
1

So I noticed on my Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM lens (Canon EF-S fit), when shooting a subject at wide apertures with a relatively close background that consists of "natural" stuff such as leaves or blades or little twigs, the out-of-focus background gets real grainy, and it's not pleasant to look at, at least for me.

Now my question is if it's normal for this lens, or is it a defective lens, or is it a user error that can be fixed?

Here is a good example of what I mean:

Notice the grain in the top part of the images

Many thanks for any input!
