You've chosen a great lens for wildlife. You should be very pleased with the results.

For landscapes, scenery, general travel, I think you might want a lens like the Canon EFS 15-85 (~ $900) or the Sigma C 17- 70 at about half that price. On sale right now ( B&H Photo for $339).  I have the Sigma and it is on my 60D 90% of the time, unless I'm birding, and am very happy with it.
