Can you elaborate as to why? Is dual conversion gain exclusive to the R series? In any case, what would you receive ommend? Dialing in the ISO manually as well?

From my understanding the dual ISO gain is at 100 and 320?

So we’re just speaking low ISO’s? If ISO’s beyond 320 are needed, Auto ISO is fine?

Start here:

Also look at this

The a7RIV changes conversation gain at a different place but the principle applies.

So, Jim, is this the correct manual-exposure strategy to use on the A7R4, in your opinion?

* ETTR at ISO 100, only go on if that's not possible
* Decide on f-stop based on DOF, not the light
* Decide on shutter speed based on motion blur, not the light
* Then set ISO by finding the ISO that would place the significant highlights on the right side of the histogram
* If that is 100-250, use 100
* If that is 320-2500, use 320
* If that is over 2500, use 3 stops under that ISO

Sounds good to me. But the scene DR should figure in once you’ve grokked the approach.
