Experience shipping equipment "ahead"

We live on the east coast of the USA, but we have been spending several months over in Hawaii the last several years, and I've gotten into photographing (or trying at least) surfing over there.

Each year, I've been accumulating more equipment, but it is getting more difficult to carry all of that and we think that my wife may've injured herself lugging/dragging heavy bags last year.

So I want to try to ship some of the heavier lenses (I have a Tamron 150-600 G2 and a Canon 100-400 ii), plus a few bodies (Fuji and a Canon 90D, this year) and also some additional things like a Manfrotto tripod and a gimbal.

I guess that there are USPS Priority, Fedex/UPS, and I also looking into like shipsticks.

So I was wondering if anyone has done something like that "safely", and if so how is the best, safest way to do that?
