I suspect that your lens has a "YS" mount, in M42.

Way back, SP often meant "Screw-thread for Pentax" (which is M42) -- as opposed to the later K bayonet for Pentax cameras, which tended to abbreviate as PK. The SP abbreviation seems a bit strained until you realize the Pentax's dominant series of screw thread bodies were SPotmatics....

That makes a lot of sense, but it makes me wonder how many different people made "YS" lens mounts? Sigma did, and I have one made by Sun (Courtesy of Dave at Heritage Cameras).

I had bought two Sigma 200mm f/4 lenses, both in M42 mount. The one I got from Dave replaced one labelled YS-LLC Japan (that's for the later Praktica 'electric' mount) and is for Nikon F (with auto aperture stop down linkage) labelled YS-NI Japan. I've just taken the other one off my Pentax ESII and it's labelled YS-PE Japan......

All a bit academic now

The advantage of the YS mount is that it could be fitted to any 35mm SLR, even the likes of Nikon F, OM & Leica R which all have longer registration than M42.

M42 is fairly easily adapted but despite sometimes being called the Universal screw mount, wasn't quite universal.
