That is a complete myth. Newer aps-c cameras have progress a good deal since your old T1i.

And yet the packing more megapixels into a sensor no bigger than that of the T1i results in increase noise. So if one were to look at it simply, older models such as the T1i (without the bells and whistles most people crave for and seldom even use) do a much better job when shooting at a higher ISO.
