Re: Override?

Have you checked the GH5 user guide to see if it has an override that disables the AF/MF clutch on lenses that have one? Some people hate that MF switch on their lenses and I believe some cameras have a setting that disables it.

Hmmm....that's an interesting thought.

I checked on my Lumix - a GX-8 - which has a relatively advanced menu that may be close (though not identical) to that of the GH5 - and the one possibly relevant thing I found was: within a sub-menu (the Custom Menu) there is a way to set "MF Assist" - which gives the user a number of different options, the most useful of which is 'Focus Assist' which creates a magnified close-up window as one is focusing, so you can really see whatever it is you are focusing on. But the whole thing can also be 'disabled' -

And depending on the lens, sometimes it's hard to see the focus changing (especially on focus-by-wire lenses, as so many of the modern Pana-Leica offerings seem to be these days).

I asked the seller to check those functions and see if they make any difference.

In the meantime I'm still scratching my head.  Almost no other photographers seem to have encountered a similar problem, either with a Panasonic-Leica lens equipped with an AF-MF switch - or with any of the modern Lumix bodies.  So....I'm still at a loss ---

If anyone has any inspired suggestions, please let me know
