Creating a rear baffle for extension tubes

I had a bunch of cheap extension tubes and adapters laying around and was able to rig something up to attach a microscope objective to my camera (Sony e mount).

When I use an led ring light a perfect circle in the center of the image is greatly overexposed. I believe it is because of light reflecting in the tubes and think a baffle might help. Has anyone tried doing this? Or do you think there is an easier solution (loosely rolling up some black construction paper the length of the tubes? black paint?)?
