How often you experience situations when photos you think are the best you have done, are not received as well as photos you made specifically to please some kind of trend like colorful fantasy type post-processing or close distance (up to arm length) portraits? Is it any different when selling your photos instead just publishing? Have you got different reactions when showing the same photos printed?

I've said it for a long time, "I have general public, non-photography pro, non-purist tastes"

The stuff I create is far more greatly received by everyday people on the street, than it is among the pros. And I consider this a blessing. I think it would be really hard to have completely different tastes than the crowd your trying to sell to. (I totally understand that not everyone cares about selling their work)

But even just sharing your work with friends and acquaintances (or in my case, a lot of complete strangers during ride share) is very gratifying.  I think it would be kind of tough to create stuff that you, and a handful of purists on DPR just love.... but the rest of the world is like.... Ehhh.....

Its so awesome to be able to create stuff from your own heart, and to have a lot of folks just love it
