Acceptable LP/PH for sharp prints

Many threads discuss the resolution needed for decent prints. I think this is normally assumed to be 250-300dpi for pictures viewed at normal reading distance, reducing to as low as 100-150dpi for large pictures hung on a wall which are viewed from longer distances.

However the question of LP/PH is almost never discussed. Presumable there are lots of blurry prints, sharply printed at 300dpi!

I am rethinking my equipment strategy from scratch, and it appears to me that the key determinant of which camera make to go for is the availability of suitable lenses of sufficient quality.

Does anyone have any ideas of the minimum LP (per inch?)needed for good quality?

Thanks

tom
