Expodisk used to get perfect white balance

I had bought an Expodisk v1 https://www.expodisc.com/ https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1008986-REG/expoimaging_expod2_77_expodisc_2_0_77mm_white.html years ago and never used it until last week. The Expodisk is used to get perfect white balance quickly. It looks like a large opaque white filter that you hold over the lens, point it at the light source and hit custom white balance. I know that you can use a white card to do the same thing BTW but I find this easier to use. Note that the Expdisk is not suitable for shooting under varying lighting conditions like street.

The reason I started using it is because I have been learning how to do long exposure photography with ND filters ranging from 2 - 15 stops. The first shots I did were brownish due to the ND filter and I was of course able to correct the WB in LR.

However I thought that it would be great to get a perfect WB in camera so I put the 10 stop filter on the camera and then put the Expodisk in front of that and pointed it at the Sun and saved a custom WB. Then I started experimenting with the ND filter. There was no brownish tinge to the photos that I could see. And when when I used the WB selector tool in LR it seemed to make no difference.

Overall it seems like a great tool that I will use a lot from now on as I do a lot of landscape work.
