Re: G5X mark II owners - Some Cons

You're very welcome!

I just had a gander at the Canon outlet and their prices aren't that great, but they may still run specials from time to time. That's how I had bought my last equipment from them and the warranty appears to be the same 1 year. Canon also has these incredible specials on some their printers from time to time, you get a very large rebate and the final price is super low, that's how I bought my last couple A3 printers which have been flawless.

But to get back on topic, I need a quality WA compact cam but I most probably won't buy this G5X mark II. All Canon had to do was to update the original one (keeping its true swivel screen which is miles ahead of a selfie screen in both still and video mode for anybody who knows how to use it) and add the new lens, the new innards, and ideally some modicum of weatherproofing (easy and cheap according to my industry sources.) But NO, they HAD to release instead two "crippleware" models that actually self compete! And then Canon complains of market loss and slumping sales... This would have been THE 1" street / family / travel cam to buy and I'm quite certain it would have outsold everything, including the Sony RX100 line.

See my other thread if you are interested about the review conclusion of Andrew Smallman at Camera Ergonomics, he posted some excellent thoughts (and he puts it way better than I, LOL.)
