A friend of mine owns a RX10 iii. We took some Milky Way photos with it last year and it worked fine. Best to take a bunch of photo’s and stack them to reduce the noise. Using a small tracker helps, as you can expose for longer from the start.

I was pretty impressed with the result. And yes, using a full frame camera makes a difference, but not as much as you might think. In stead of spending more money, give it a shot and learn how to combine images from the camera and post processing. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
