***INCOMING SARCASM***

Nope. It was so outlandishly sarcastic, that it shouldn't have even come into question. Here is a fantastic example of strong later-afternoon light and how well the iPhone XS Max camera module, coupled with the stellar computational photography, brings out the best in a typical beach capture. It isn't detail retention that you are seeing, it is the failing of a camera lens/sensor combo that is so small that it adds noise to an image that is illuminated quite well. Where the 24mp sensor in my X-T2 coupled with my 16-55 wouldn't do anything of the sort. Again, this type of image, when well lit, looks fine for emailing, posting or just sending it around. It won't stand any type of real scrutiny. Please don't tell me about how there are plenty of iOS/Android users out there that are printing 13x19 images...ok? It doesn't hold up, for me and plenty others out there that cherish the dynamic range, detail and image capturing ability of our real cameras.

BTW, what is the sarcasm tag?

I print a lot of of photos from both my x-t20 and my iPhone 8. Mostly I print the iPhone photos at 8x8 in an annual family photo album and I can’t easily tell which camera I shot them with. I have printed photos taken with my phone bigger, maybe up to 10x12 or so and they look fine. My bigger prints (16x24, 11x14) come from my x-t20 or the ilc cameras that preceded it. But I don’t often print that large though. Generally I think people forget how forgiving prints are, it’s nothing like zooming in a 5k monitor.

So people who print cell phone photos definitely exist!
