Body/lens sales ratios

A question for the CIPA and other source data miners among us--

We're probably mostly all familiar with the reputed fact that 'most' ILC buyers use whatever their bodies are kitted with and never buy another lens (I obviously have no knowledge whether this is actually true on not). Is it?

And questions: (assuming it's true)

  1. Does it apply to all brands equally?
  2. Does it apply to dSLR/MILC types equally?
  3. Has it always been the case? (ISTM that I never saw anyone carrying an SLR back in the 70's that didn't also have a lens bag. Maybe it's only a 'digital revolution'/fad era thing)
  4. As body sales have collapsed here in the last two years, has that ratio of bodies-to-lenses sold changed?

Has anyone here seen this kind of data? Seems to me like it would tell us interesting things about what's happening with the camera market.
