Z50 has magnesium weatherproof body with twin dial controls. Probably not difficult to replace the APSC sensor with a FF sensor for another $200 (just guessing). Manufacturing cost is shared by the two cameras. Add back a few features like CLS. Now we have Canon RP competitor with MRSP of <1200.

The Z50 has CLS. See Nikon's Web site.

As for adding a full-frame sensor for $200, why would Nikon want to undercut the Z6?

$200 is probably a bit optimistic. And they may not want to undercut the Z6, at least not at this point in time. But, whether it is technically possible and whether Nikon will actually do it are 2 separate questions.

In support of the idea is the fact that with the Z cameras Nikon has previously hosted different sensors in the same body.
