Not a necessary feature as all you have to do is point the camera at a frame wide bright surface, for example, the sky overcast or blue and select f16 or the like to show up anything stuck so the sensor.

That's what I normally do but thought the dust alert was a handy feature. I had a K3 but don't recall if it had that.

I personally see no need for it as your eyes soon tell you. There is no way I'd not notice dust on the sensor and I had to clean it regularly as I changed prime lenses too often in the field.

Maybe you don't post process where you really see dust, dirt or pollen. I use nothing but RAW and PP every image on a 24" photography monitor but I can see dirt when looking at the LCD on the camera.
